This Martini MK49 was built for the 1986 Formula 3 season. Entered by the Oreca team run by Hugues de Chaunac, and driven by Yannick Dalmas, the car and its driver won six of the eleven races in which they competed, including the highly coveted race at Monaco, held as a curtain-raiser to the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Dalmas won the French Championship, so opening the doors of F3000 for him in 1987. Following this, he competed in 23 F1 Grands Prix and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans four times.

The car was bought by its previous owner directly from the team in February 1987 and acquired by Jean-Pierre Nylin in 2008 at an auction held by Artcurial. It was noted in the description of the car that Hugues de Chaunac had confirmed to the seller that the chassis was indeed that used by Dalmas throughout the 1986 season.

The car was never driven after this; it was displayed in the previous owner’s living room for nearly 20 years and then in the museum at the Château de Vernon.

Buyers are informed that all vehicles in the collection have seen limited use in recent years, having been part of a museum display. They are therefore sold as-is, require restarting, are not covered by a valid roadworthiness inspection, and will need full recommissioning before being driven on public roads.
