GTO is the signature to have in the Ferrari world. First presented at the Beijing Motor Show in 2010, the 599 GTO was intended as a tribute to its predecessors the 250 and 288. An evolution of the 599XX track car, it had the same, if slightly tempered, ultra-sporty personality. It was powered by a magnificent V12 6-litre engine at 65°, producing a whopping 670 bhp. Coupled to the F1 SuperFast sequential-shift gearbox, it was capable of an extraordinary performance: the GTO went from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.35 seconds and had a top speed of over 335 km/h. The 20-inch wheels and carbon features, including a huge air extractor, spoke volumes about the car’s temperament as did the interior, with its fabric and Alcantara bucket seats and an abundance of carbon fibre. The Manettino, positioned on the steering wheel, had five settings allowing the driver to adjust the car’s behaviour. The gearshift paddles offered incredible precision and optimized downshift. The carbon-ceramic discs provided an effective and durable braking system. The tour de force for Ferrari, in creating this GTO, was to build such an incredibly powerful car that was so easy to drive.
Delivered on the 11th of July 2011 by Garage Zenith, this 599 GTO was sold new to a car enthusiast in Crans-Montana. It features the stunning colour combination of ‘Rosso Corsa’ (DS 322) with a ‘Grigio Silverstone Opaco’ roof. Then, the car is in Spain, where it was part of a major collection; and registered in Andorra at the time. We have a service record from Modena Sport detailing the various maintenance services performed on the car; it was serviced in the network in November 2012 when it had 7,194 km on it, and again in May 2014 when it had 12,867 km on it. The first stamp in the service booklet is for the maintenance service. It was serviced by Ferrari Barcelona when its mileage reached 17,619 km. It was subsequently serviced by Ferrari Toulouse Modena Sport in 2019, 2020 and 2021, with no more than 500 km travelled each year. In 2021, it was imported into France by the previous owner, a major collector from the Basque Coast who also owned the 430 Scuderia 16M from the collection we are offering. He had the car regularly serviced, mainly by the Ferrari dealership in Toulouse.
As an enthusiast of limited-edition Ferrari cars, our collector acquired it from him in 2021 (at the same time as his 16M). Interestingly, the previous owner was as much an enthusiast of rare Ferrari cars as he was of classical music. Similar to the 16M, he replaced the original car radio to improve sound quality; the original unit will be included with the car.
The car is now in superb. The lower carbon fibre front bumper lip is slightly marked, but a replacement lip will be supplied with the car. When its mileage reached 21,213 km, it was serviced by Garage du Trident, an authorized Ferrari workshop in La Roche-sur-Yon. With less than 21,300 km on the clock today, this magnificent GTO comes with all its manuals, including the stamped service logbook, the Ferrari trickle charger and its cover. Among the 599 GTO cars produced, this is certainly one of the best-preserved examples registered in France.
