Famakan Magassa, né en 1997 au Mali, vit et travaille à Bamako. Diplômé du Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers Multimédia Balla Fasséké Kouyaté en 2018, il développe une pratique picturale engagée, à la croisée du quotidien et du commentaire social.

Ses œuvres explorent des thématiques telles que le déplacement, la corruption, les inégalités ou encore les relations humaines, mêlant scènes de vie et réflexions socio-économiques. À travers des figures anthropomorphes mises en scène avec humour et ironie, il met en lumière les contradictions de la société contemporaine, notamment la tension entre valeur financière et liens humains. Ses compositions, à la fois accessibles et incisives, interrogent la complexité des comportements humains et affirment le rôle de l’art comme espace de réflexion sur les enjeux sociaux et économiques actuels.

Son travail a été présenté dans de nombreuses expositions en Afrique et à l’international, et a été distingué par le Norval Sovereign African Art Prize en 2023.

Famakan Magassa, born in 1997 in Mali, lives and works in Bamako. A 2018 graduate of the Balla Fasséké Kouyaté Conservatory of Multimedia Arts and Crafts, he has developed a socially engaged artistic practice that bridges the gap between everyday life and social commentary.

His works explore themes such as displacement, corruption, inequality, and human relationships, blending scenes of everyday life with socio-economic reflections. Through anthropomorphic figures staged with humor and irony, he highlights the contradictions of contemporary society, particularly the tension between financial value and human connections. His compositions, both accessible and incisive, examine the complexity of human behavior and affirm the role of art as a space for reflection on current social and economic issues.

His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in Africa and internationally and was honored with the Norval Sovereign African Art Prize in 2023.
