Available with 850 or 1100cc engines, the Renault 5 Société was a utility model with two doors and two seats, leaving the rear compartment with a flat floor free to transport goods. It has become hard to find these models, which are often badly rusted or have been run into the ground, or simply fell victim to scrappage incentives. This 1100cc example was registered on 26 March 1982 and bought by Jean-Pierre Nylin in 2017. The car has been repainted in its original colour, while the interior appears to be original and has been protected by covers. The records for its safety inspections on Histovec go back to 1993, when the odometer was reading 71,556km, versus 99,306km today. In running order, it still has its starting handle and jack; a more recent Pioneer radio has been fitted. Well preserved, this Renault 5 is an interesting collector’s item for fans of the model.
Buyers are informed that all vehicles in the collection have seen limited use in recent years, having been part of a museum display. They are therefore sold as-is, require restarting, are not covered by a valid roadworthiness inspection, and will need full recommissioning before being driven on public roads.
